The Position: As we are expanding operations, we are in need of more motivated and hardworking crew members to join our team. The Electrician is responsible maintaining, servicing, troubleshooting and repair of equipment used in Trenchless, Microtunnelling, and Direct Pipe Installations. This position is a part of the equipment team who are responsible for the safe, technical, and economical operation and maintenance of the company's equipment in the field and yard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and service electrical equipment used in trenchless pipe installations
  • Prepare service logs and reports, in collaboration with the Equipment Manager
  • Troubleshoot issues with equipment and conduct required electrical repairs
  • Assist with equipment set up during commissioning, mobilization, and equipment disassembly during demobilization
  • Assist in commissioning and installation of power generation equipment
  • Participate in tailgate and operations meetings
  • Coordinate with Management and Operators in equipment troubleshooting and documentation
  • Ensure applicable HSE standards set by the client and the company are followed and executed

Key Technical Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge and understanding of the operation of tunneling equipment
  • Read and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, and applicable codes to determine wiring layouts
  • Good understanding of PLC's and VFD drives
  • Ability to comprehend and troubleshoot electrical systems
  • Cut, thread, bend, assemble, and install conduits and other types of electrical conductor enclosures and fittings
  • Position and install distribution and control systems such as switches, relays, circuit breakers, and fuses
  • Dress, splice, join, and connect wires and cables to form circuits
  • Use of logic and various methods to solve difficult problems with effective and creative solutions

Qualification

  • Education – Electrician red seal journeyman certification
  • Experience – Minimum 4 years of experience in electrical work
  • Relevant work experience with Microtunnelling Machines and/or Direct Pipe technology is an asset

Physical Demand

  • While performing the duties of this job, requirements include prolonged standing, walking and/or sitting.
  • Use of hands to handle/feel objects, tools, and controls.
  • Occasionally requirement to climb stairs and/or ladders, balance, stoop or kneel and/or walk on uneven ground.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Good hearing – able to hear equipment alarms, voices, radio transmissions, and other noises consistent with construction sites
  • Working in all weather conditions, inside and outside
  • Ability to work in confined spaces is a requirement for this position

Other Relevant Information

  • Extended periods of working away and travel is required in this position. This position is assigned field locations during operations.
