ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Based at the Detour Lake Mine site, we currently have an exciting opportunity for a Load and Haul Senior Supervisor to join our Mine Operations team reporting to the Mine Superintendents.

Detour Lake is the second largest gold producing mine in Canada with the largest gold reserves and substantial growth potential. The open pit mine is located in northeastern Ontario, approximately 300 kilometres northeast of Timmins and 185 kilometres by road northeast of Cochrane, within the northernmost Abitibi Greenstone Belt.The mine is situated in the area of the historic Detour Lake open pit/underground mine operated by Placer Dome which produced 1.8 million ounces of gold from 1983 to 1999. The Detour Lake operation has a mine life of approximately 22 years with an average gold production of 659,000 ounces per year.

The Load and Haul Senior Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of supervisors in a safe, efficient and cost effective extraction of ore and movement of waste rock.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Your responsibilities will include:

• 
  Ensuring the safety of the team by applying a zero harm approach to all tasks performed;
• Planning, organizing, leading to ensure loading and hauling targets are met;
• Lead, monitor and allocate daily responsibilities of the load and haul supervisors, pit service crew and dispatch;
• Following the weekly and monthly pit and dump/stockpile operational plans and developing daily plans for load and haul crews;
• Communicating production information and changes to Technical Services, Mine Maintenance and the Process Plant to minimize production delays;
• Assessing employee performance and coaching appropriate actions as required;
• Promoting a climate of trust and participation.

QUALIFICATIONS

Our ideal candidate has:

• 
  Minimum high school diploma or GED with extensive open pit experience; Technical or College Diploma preferred;
• Minimum six (6) years experience in all components of open pit mining operations;
• Minimum three (3) years experience in an open pit supervisory role;
• Proven commitment to safety, health and environmental best practices;
• Strong English verbal and written communication skills;
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills;
• Strong business acumen and competent computer literacy skills (MS Office);
• Valid Ontario driver’s license.
