Position Overview

The Ohio State University’s Office of Advancement seeks a Senior Business Systems Analyst. The Senior BSA will be critical in helping to bring to life the future of our enterprise online giving systems and University-wide customer relationship management systems for The Ohio State University including burgeoning cloud technologies.

Reporting to the Application Production Support Manager for the Office of Advancement, the Senior BSA, working on a team with business users and application developers, will gather and document requirements and create and facilitate test cases to ensure business needs are met. In addition, they will provide system support for enterprise online giving systems and University-wide customer relationship management systems, production and upgrade support which includes analyzing and designing security roles and performing data analysis by writing ad-hoc queries using various reporting tools.

They will also serve as a project manager for small projects, defining scope and ensuring timeline and specifications are met. The Senior BSA serves as system testing lead for assigned projects, enhancements and system upgrades. They create, update and facilitate test cases; ensure testing is completed and issues are tracked and reported; troubleshoot issues and ensures business needs are met. The Senior BSA is expected to have excellent analytical, verbal and written skills. They will work both independently and in a team on complex projects and applications while multi-tasking, prioritizing and organizing these tasks to maximize productivity and meet the needs of customers.

Department Overview

Advancement Information Technology works in partnership with organizations across the university delivering technology resources in the area of Advancement to support our faculty, students, staff, alumni, current donors, prospective donors, community partners and friends of the university.

Duties and Responsibilities

60%
Serves as a business analyst to gather requirements; creates and facilitates test cases; works with business users and application developers; ensures testing is completed and issues are tracked and reported for assigned projects, enhancements and system upgrades. Troubleshoots issues and ensures business needs are met. Serves as a liaison to vendors. Provides production and upgrade support, data analysis and security role design.

30%
Serves as a project coordinator/manager for small projects to create project scope, ensuring timeline and specifications are met. Works with IT leadership and other Advancement staff to analyze new projects or enhancements.

10%
Assists other IT staff in support of Advancement staff. Assists in completion of tasks, projects and discovery of new applications or enhancements to existing applications. Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Building and strengthening relationships with business partners to gain deeper understanding of their business needs

  • Participate in professional development to continue learning industry best practices and incorporate ideas and concepts into Advancement IT’s business practices

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

  • Four (4) years of relevant experience. For example: business analyst, system/data analyst

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 2 years of experience as a business analyst or performing system/data analyst tasks.

  • Experience working directly with customers at various levels of management.

  • Experience working on projects for vendor software and custom web sites.

  • Experience writing requirements documents and test cases.

  • Knowledge of relational database models and experience writing SQL queries using various reporting tools.

  • Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.

  • Experience with project management methodologies.

  • Experience working on application development projects.

  • Experience working in a fundraising environment.

  • Experience as Cloud practitioner.

In accordance with the Disaster Preparedness and University State of Emergency Policy 6.17 this position has been designated as a standby position.

Salary range: $73,100 – 97,500

(please note the department's budget allows for around the mid-point of this range as a maximum)
