Laser Operator – Day shift
This is a full-time, permanent position located in Orillia, Ontario. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager, your primary responsibility will be to perform daily set-up and operation of a Mitsubishi CNC Laser Cutting Machine in a multishift operation.
NOTE: This position is only open to applicants who are currently eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities:
· Machine set-up, start-up and shut down procedures.
· Load, unload, sort, count processed parts.
· Inspect parts for surface defects, burrs, etches, to rectify problems such as damages, shortages, and non-conformances to specifications.
· Assist in scheduled preventive maintenance, slat changes and cleaning of cutting equipment and work areas in accordance with company 5S standards and equipment manufacturers specifications.
· Perform machine alignment procedures and optics cleaning to ensure equipment is operating at peak performance.
· Interpret technical documents such as work order specifications and schedules, Solidworks CAD drawings, procedures, and processes.
· Facilitate work-order and time reporting documents as required.
· Assist other operators with daily duties involving housekeeping, maintenance, loading/unloading, raw material staging, preparing, and organizing to meet daily production schedules.
· Participate in manufacturing process improvement teams and 5S groups.
· Maintain a safe and clean working environment, complying with company procedures, SOP’s and policies.
Qualifications:
· Technical Diploma is preferred.
· Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and understanding of general metal manufacturing processes.
· Minimum 5 Years CNC Laser Cutting Machine operation experience.
· Ability to interpret technical drawings and documents.
· Experience inspecting laser cut parts using appropriate measuring equipment.
· Familiarity with sheet metal flat patterns is preferred.
· Knowledge of Numerical Control (NC) machines and familiarity with nesting software.
· Forklift license and light crane operation experience (previous certification is an asset).
· Dependable, dedicated and safety conscious.
· Team player with strong problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
· Basic computer skills and experience in an MRP environment.
Education :
· High school diploma combined with technical diploma and or equivalent experience in CNC laser operations.
